5 Alchemer Alternatives for B2B Companies (According to Gartner)

March 2, 2023

Looking for a great survey solution alternative to Alchemer that can deliver more customer experience (CX) bang for your buck?

Formerly known as SurveyGizmo, Alchemer openly positions itself as an enterprise online survey solution for market researchers and CX professionals who “have outgrown SurveyMonkey and don’t want the expense and headaches of Qualtrics”.

Strong survey logic, a huge range of advanced question types, and decent workflow automation options are some of its main features.

However, like all choices, it comes with a few downsides. Flexibility is great, but Alchemer’s higher-level enterprise solutions aren’t cheap, which leaves businesses wondering if they can get more value for money elsewhere.

Take a look at these five CX tools and management solutions, all highly rated by Gartner, that should suit all kinds of functional requirements and budgets.

5 Alchemer Alternatives for B2B Companies

1. CustomerGauge

G2 rating: 4.6/5

While Alchemer may have strong survey logic and analytics functions, some businesses want more than a survey tool.

CustomerGauge is like a business growth partner.

Its customer experience management platform is ranked as the #1 VoC software solution for B2B businesses by Gartner, but the software is also backed by its own proprietary methodology, called Account Experience (AX).

Gartner

The Account Experience software automatically captures and distributes feedback from your accounts, including non-survey data, to front-line managers in real time. This helps them reduce churn, drive up-sells, and close new business with Net Promoter Score (NPS) promoter-based referrals.

The AX playbook then gives teams a clear return on investment (ROI) on customer retention efforts — a unique offering in the CX landscape.

The software not only enables a 360-degree view of every account, it also draws actionable insights for users from feedback, making it easier to maximize growth from CX by identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities.

While Alchmer is a great option for many businesses who want to implement customer surveys, CustomerGauge’s emphasis on action turns it into an indispensable CX tool.

CustomerGauge vs Alchemer: How Do They Compare?

As you’ll see from Gartner’s recommendations, CustomerGauge is ranked #1 for B2B VoC software and Alchemer comes in much lower at #7. The reasons for this include CustomerGauge’s laser focus on the B2B market, which makes their offering much more tailor-made for businesses keen on growth.

Their scores for Features (4.6 v 4.1), Customer Service (4.9 v 4.3) and Value for Money (4.5 v 3.8) on the GetApp software recommendation website highlight some of the areas where CustomerGauge may be the better B2B choice.

2. SurveyMonkey

G2 rating: 4.4/5

SurveyMonkey has been creating online surveys since 1999 and for many people it’s the most well-known and popular survey tool.

The software is easy to use with tons of templates, advanced customization, and built-in data analytics. It’s popular, too, because of its free tier plan that offers unlimited surveys of up to ten questions that can be sent to up to 100 respondents.

However, it’s not necessarily designed with larger enterprises in mind, as this review in PC mag points out:

“SurveyMonkey sets the standard as a great tool for business people looking to shoot out a few simple questions to a small group or, in the paid tier, to a large group… Its middle pricing tier offers a strong mix of features for an aggressive price, but the most advanced survey designers will likely want to look elsewhere.”

Pricing: Free plan only gives access to ten questions and responses per survey. Higher tier plans available.

SurveyMonkey vs Alchemer: How Do They Compare?

SurveyMonkey is a good option for small, B2C businesses. It’s easy to set up and use and delivers some reporting capabilities. Alchemer’s business support and functionality are more advanced, so if you want mid-ranged analytical capabilities, Alchemer is the better choice.

3. Qualtrics CoreXM

G2 rating: 4.6/5

Qualtrics is recognized as one of the larger beasts in the online research industry.

It combines powerful features like 100+ question types and robust logic with ease of use to make market research easier.

The platform specializes in in-depth functionality which can be useful to harness with the right know-how. However, it can be overwhelming to novice users or those unfamiliar with its capabilities. As a result, it does have a reputation for being more unwieldy and cumbersome.

As PCMag says:
“Qualtrics takes a unique approach that shows its thoughtfulness and power consistently across multiple phases of survey creation, fielding, and reports. And it generally succeeds in making its feature set discoverable. Few beyond the most sophisticated researchers will need to tap into its full power.”

Pricing: Quote-based.

Qualtrics CoreXM vs Alchemer: How Do They Compare?

When it comes to big enterprise experience software, there can be little to separate Alchemer and Qualtrics. Both offer advanced survey capabilities (at significant prices at the higher-tier plans).

However, Alchemer outranks Qualtrics by at least 3 points on G2 when it comes to aspects such as ease of setup, admin, and use.

In G2 reviews, Qualtrics’ most significant edge is in its multilingual survey capacity, but Alchemer still meets the standard level of multilingual needs.

If you need more advanced detail in your reporting and analytics, and have the tech knowledge in-house to use it, Qualtrics is a well-recognized, albeit expensive, option. If your requirements are less complex, and you value ease of setup, Alchemer might be the better choice for you.

4. Typeform

G2 rating: 4.5/5

Typeform’s distinctive interface has become its trademark and you can use a simple drag-and-drop functionality to include questions, as well as images and videos from built-in media libraries.

If you’re in any way a design fanatic, you may fall for Typeform on look alone.

That’s their angle: forms and surveys are simple and beautiful, improving the chances (so they say) that more people will respond.

However, it’s not a case of style over substance. Reviews of Typeform emphasize its good survey logic and workflows. Typeform features over 120 existing integrations that ensure the data you gather plugs into your workflows. But they have received criticism for poor API, and while they have integration capabilities, they are not as strong as Alchemer’s.

Pricing: Business-level plans are around $80 p/m, but there are more basic options available.

Typeform vs Alchemer: How Do They Compare?

Typeform is simpler, easier, and more intuitive while producing more elegant surveys than Alchemer.

With both offering a variety of pricing plans and claim to prioritize simplicity, Typeform is more straightforward in look but also in functionality. As this review in Techradar found, “If you need survey logic, but not advanced question types or Javascript support, you may find that Typeform offers a better value than Alchemer.”

Typeform does offer some integration, reporting, and analytics capabilities, but they’re not its strong points. If these are important priorities, Alchemer is likely to be the better option for your business.

5. SurveySparrow

G2 rating: 4.4/5

SurveySparrow is a mobile-first survey platform that aims to offer budget friendly survey solutions with a focus on younger customers.

The platform aims to make their surveys engaging and conversational in tone, with chatbot-style survey outputs rather than more formal survey structures.

Their determination to take market share from some of the older survey platforms means they offer excellent pricing options for multiple budgets and have already built a reputation for excellent customer service.

That being said, SurveySparrow is unlikely to work as well for non-mobile B2B businesses. Their focus is also less on supporting account-level CX programs or on linking customer feedback data to actionable steps.

Pricing: $499 p/m for enterprise plans, with higher options available on a quote basis.

SurveySparrow vs Alchemer: How Do They Compare?

SurveySparrow’s users are likely to be B2C businesses with younger, more mobile-based customers. It aims to offer budget-friendly, conversational-like feedback channels.

While it offers B2B capabilities, if you want a more comprehensive business survey tool, Alchemer might be worth the extra money. However, even Alchemer isn’t the best VoC software for the B2B market (according to Gartner, that’s CustomerGauge).
